Theme Park Concept / Icon Design.

Personal project | LOST LANDS | 2018

Lost Lands.

Do you know that there are seven abandoned theme parks here in Japan? One of them is straight up outta Grimm’s fairy tales. I can’t believe it isn’t full of royally dressed squatters. Gluck it’s called. Yep…Yuck.

Anywho, that isn’t the lost land we are talking about here. Though technically it would count. This was the concept made for a personal project that turned into a real pitch and then died again … largely because of the seven dead bloated monsters listed above. The Haikyo. (There is a Japanese word for these ruins!)

What began as an exploration for a CGMA class with ex-Disney Imagineer, Luc Steadman, became a real possibility with client name who was looking to develop some land in Chiba. Unfortunately, the plans progressed no further, but I’m keeping the presentation for a rainy day and a wealthy investor.

An epic theme.

Today’s youth don’t know anything about history. Let’s make it fun to explore history… or at least the myths that were birthed there.
Maybe start with a Greek epic, like Perseus verses the Kraken! That’s cool! Each culture and continent have something to add to this park of ancient learning/fun. Mysteries of the Egyptian Sphinx or Chinese wish-fulfilling dragons (I’ll bet there really were dragons!). Almost anything from Arabian Nights or how about mazes made to trip you up like the African trickster Anansi! You could get lost in a Mayan pyramid! Anything goes…
